A workshop to decolonize our bodies & our periods for BIPOC girls, trans and non-binary femmes and their caregivers between the ages of 9-18.
This will be an intergenerational gathering to decolonize and destigmatize menstruation for BIPOC families. We invite any Black/Indigenous/POC Girls, trans & non-binary femmes ages 9 and up & their caregivers to join us in sharing our questions, experiences, and wisdom about periods.
Brown Girl Rise will bring together experts in reproductive justice and decolonized menstrual practices to share their insights and personal stories. We want to learn from these experts while honoring that we all have expertise in our bodies and our experiences. This space has been lovingly designed to decenter institutionalized & depersonalized knowledge of reproductive health. In their place, we will center personal stories, Black and Indigenous traditional medicine, trans and non-binary experiences of menstruation, and unapologetic curiosity. We will hold each other in our discomforts and uneasiness. We will remind each other of our power and the wisdom our bodies hold.
