Hosted by Storyline Community, Milwaukie Lutheran Church, Oak Grove United Methodist Church – Oregon and Franciscan Spiritual Center
The work of deconstructing white supremacy in our lives is ongoing work, work that takes asking uncomfortable questions of ourselves, our friends, our loved ones, and our institutions.
We know this work doesn’t always happen in isolation, so we are providing a space to do some of that work together- a place where you will be invited to sit in discomfort, to receive a sermon of the lived experience of a black man in America, and what it has to say to us.
Book Club Schedule: Week 1, 7/6: I. Call to Worship, II. Hymn of Praise Week 2: 7/13: III. Invocation, IV. Scripture Reading Week 3: 7/20: Sermon: Repenting of Whiteness, 1. Inventing Whiteness Week 4: 7/27: Sermon: Repenting of Whiteness, 2. Five Stages of White Grief and 3. Plague of White Innocence Week 5: 8/3, Sermon: Being Black in America (4-6) Week 6: 8/10: VI.
