We will also have the honor of hearing from Kayin Talton Davis. Known for her vibrant color palettes and unique aesthetic, Talton Davis founded Soapbox Theory™ in 2001, with the mission of “Cultivating Black Joy™.” Kayin is a current City of Portland Archives Artist in Residence, and co-artist of the Historic Black Williams Art Project and the Alberta Street Black Heritage Markers. Her most recent permanent public installation, “We’ve Been Here” – highlighting Oregon Black women in the early 1900s, is located in the Portland Building.
We also have the fortune of hearing from Mora / Aaron Miller. From Mora/Aaron:
Born in Portland, live in Vancouver. I have always lived on stolen indigenous land on both sides of the Great River (“Columbia”).
I fly for a west coast airline for a living.
I am very nocturnal by nature.
Politically, I lean far left progressive / radical.
I am gender/body(+ability)/sex(+work) affirming.
I am non-mongamous and identify as solo polyamorus in addition to queer.
I love all things dark, morbid & creepy. Also science fiction, synthwave, and heavy psych rock. I am a social education, mental health, and relationship nerd. I seek to learn as much as I can about everything, but especially about things that are relevant to the people I care deeply for or the region and cultures I connect with.
Additionally, we will have the opportunity to hear from a wonderful youth speaker!
THEN WE MARCH! 🖤
